The Secret to Mastering Life’s Biggest Transitions– I found this TedTalk to be a powerful testament to the importance of reimagining your life story. Author, Bruce Feiler, discusses critical transitions in his own life that led him to collecting similar transitional information from the lives of over six thousand people. The resulting research led him to conclude that we perceive our lives as following a natural order and progression. In the end, Feiler argues that we always reimagine our life story with a happy ending. This is in our control. It is important that we become the heroes of our own story. Indeed, in Success Traits, we reimagine our own life stories. Success Traits provide the opportunity to define your life and your story as an heroic one.
The Skills We Need to Teach Our Kids– Ariane de Bonvision delivers a TedTalk on the challenges we have today of an educational system that educates children for the head and not for the heart. Educating for intellectual achievement alone leads to sadness and disappointment. She states instead that children today should be educated for Humanity Skills, Emotional Skills, and Change skills, De Bonvision argues for a stronger appreciation for the softer skills of managing our lives with joy and happiness.
Agile Programming- For Your Family– In this talk, Author Bruce Feiler summarizes his research into healthy family dynamics. He focuses on adaptability and flexibility. He encourages parents to empower their children by telling their own stories. Feiler states that happiness is not something we find, but something we make. Through his research, he concludes that children who have a sense of their space in a longer narrative are happier and more self-confident.
